Patiently Waiting...

We have a huge rose bush on the side of our house.

There are a few flowers that have opened up on it but there are a million little buds ready to pop.
I have been checking it everyday for a week but am patiently waiting for it to explode.

Happy Earth Day

Today is Earth Day. I took the chance today to think about what my family is doing to help this planet. We recycle glass, plastic, paper, steel, and aluminum. When we grocery shop we use reusable grocery bags. Tonight, we walked to the cultural center to pick up Makenna from art class instead of driving.

We didn't do anything exciting like plant a tree, but at least it was a conscious thought about how we can help preserve this planet for our grandchildren.

Looking Good

Our "wall of art" has been looking pretty good lately. I just thought I would share it!

Superbowl Sunday

Last night, Stacey had his color guard staff over for a mexican dinner. They are a great bunch and are doing a good job with the students at Monroe Central. Makenna and Keaton really enjoy them too. I even got to play with the baby! It was a fun evening.

Makenna's Bedroom

I am trying to get back in the groove and start some more home projects. Maybe posting this will give me some motivation! This is Makenna's bedroom. We painted this room before we moved in. She really enjoys all the room she has just for her. Somehow, Max (our cat) makes it up to her bed to sleep with her every night.

Christmas Decorations

I think our decorations are complete for this year. The kids love having a house big enough to have a big tree...or make that four trees. The past few years we have used a small tree on a table, so this year we went all out. Helping to put these up has kind of put me in the Christmas mood a bit. Now, if I could just get in the mood to get my shopping done...

Our Bedroom

Here are pictures of our bedroom. We painted this room before we moved in. We have some more things to finish up but it is mostly done.

The Upstairs

I thought I would show you some pictures from upstairs. This is Keaton's room. We managed to get all the bedrooms painted before we moved in. His room had a challenge. There was no closet. We found a big wall cabinet that we are using for a dresser and a closet. It worked out really good.

Another Room Complete

The laundry room was next on our list and has now been completed. It is gray and white. We are happy with the way it turned out. I think the upstairs hallway is next on the list...stay tuned.

The Living Room

Stacey had fall break last week. He spent all of his days off painting. Here are a couple pictures of the progress. We are getting there...

The Parlor

There are a lot of things we want to do to our house... in time. Downstairs we have painted the parlor. Here are some before and after pictures. We are painting again this weekend... any volunteers?

Fall

This pumpkin is one of the kids favorites. It has been with us for a few years now and they are always excited when I get it out.
This is a centerpiece on our table.

These are our mums that hang on our front porch.

This is our house with our mums and pumpkins.
I love Fall and everything that comes with it...except maybe the raking leaves part.

Works Of Art

This board hangs in our kitchen/dining room. It displays all of the kids papers they bring home from school. They are very proud as we hang new things on the board. Some of the papers even come with a story of how much fun it was to make or how well the teacher liked their art. When someone comes to visit they are always ready to show off the board.
